EMPATHY THROUGH STORYTELLING
What can theater teach us about the power of empathy?
I believe that the arts can be an intrinsic part of building a healthy, people-centered workplace. The arts can help strengthen relationships within an organization, and strengthen relationships between the organization and its clients or customers. I use the tools of theater to facilitate empathy-based training.
I work with businesses of all sizes to transform workplace culture, and connect you with your clientele, by using storytelling and empathy to see the world from different perspectives. Workshops are hands-on and exercise-driven. I tailor them to meet your company's needs.
Why empathy?
- Emotional Intelligence (EI) is more important for successful Leadership than IQ or technical skills
- Leaders with EI are better at attracting and retaining talent; developing others; and working cross-culturally
- Empathy is essential to establishing trust between doctors and their patients
- Empathy is linked to greater patient satisfaction, decreased physician burnout, and a lower risk of malpractice suits and errors
- Empathy deepens trust, which improves interpersonal relationships and workplace culture
Why Storytelling?
If Empathy is a muscle we want to develop, Storytelling is the exercise equipment. Using a basic storytelling framework allows the articulation and exploration of different points of view. This exploration and articulation expands our minds to new ways of seeing the world, and new ways of connecting with each other.
